entry 2- chocolate on Valentine's day?
I decided for this blog post to talk about chocolate. Why you may ask? Besides
it being one of my favorite candies it is because Valentine's day is right
around the corner. And what is a common gift on Valentine's day? CHOCOLATE!!!
but why? Why is it that chocolate is associated with Valentine's day? This is
because chocolate is considered to be an aphrodisiac food since the time of the
Aztecs. It is said that chocolate contains a substance that inflames desire and
makes one more open to romance. It was a tradition in European culture, where
royalty would give their lovers chocolate mixed with amber to stimulate love.
Then there was Richard Cadbury, whose family made chocolate, who was looking for
a way to use the pure cocoa butter to make more delicious drinking chocolate. He
came up with the idea of "eating chocolates," which he packed in beautiful boxes
that he designed himself. Cadbury, a marketing genius, began putting Cupids and
rosebuds on heart-shaped boxes in 1861 so that people might treasure mementos
like love letters even after the chocolates were consumed. But these are just
old tales, right? Wrong, Scientists have said that in recent studies, women who
have eaten more chocolate show more desire and romance compared to those who
don't eat chocolate. So in conclusion, we got them to thank for receiving
chocolate on Valentine's day lol.

The historical background you provided about chocolate was very educational. I knew some parts about the story of chocolate, but you helped fill in the blanks. Also, I love chocolate too, especially caramel-filled chocolate bars. Your post about chocolate was an interesting read.
